About 21CC

The 21st Century Cities Initiative will spark and test innovative solutions for creating wealth, expanding opportunities, transforming education, promoting well-being and health, strengthening infrastructure, and cultivating the arts in our cities. Building on and supporting Baltimore’s legacy of resilience and transformation, it will foster partnerships with sister cities in the United States and internationally that face similar opportunities and challenges.

The initiative, which brings together researchers and thought leaders from the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, the Whiting School of Engineering, the Bloomberg School of Public Health, the Peabody Conservatory, the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, the Carey Business School, and the School of Education, seeks to generate scholarly and applied research; train a new generation of scholars and practice professionals to develop and implement research; advance civic leaders’ understanding and use of research data; and foster deeper engagement with and among those leaders, in Baltimore and around the world.
